Flower in the crannied wall,
I pluck you out of the crannies,
I hold you here, root and all, in my hand,
Little flower—but if I could understand
What you are, root and all, and all in all,
I should know what God and man is.
Vashon Peony Co. was founded in November, 2021 by Tinuviel Lathrop and Greg Jette on a 12 acre parcel of Vashon Island formerly used for cattle grazing by Misty Isle Farms. The goal of the farm is to create a sea of peonies and other flowers that maintain the agricultural purpose of the Farmland Preservation zoning for this parcel and create a uniquely beautiful space for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Soil amendments began in 2021 with several thousand specialty cut flowers and peony crowns planted late Fall. The bulk of planting will occur in 2022, lavender in the Spring and Peonies in the Fall, for a hoped-for total of 3-5 acres in production. We are delighted to meet and collaborate with our neighbors and cannot wait to share this space with you.
